BOOK THIS TRIP NOWThe upper mustang is prominent for the adventurous trekking and highlands. Likewise, the lower Mustang is prominent for its beautiful scenery. The upper part has a Trans Himalayan climate which is cool and semi-arid. It lies in the rain shadow of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. There are lots of caves in this part. Chhoser cave is amazing, with 50 plus individual rooms and 4 individual levels, all of which are linked by a ladder. Lo Manthang, the capital of upper mustang also known as the “City of Clay” and “City of Wall”. Not to mention, it is a hidden treasure behind the Himalayas.
Upper Mustang is one half of the beautiful Mustang district in the north west of Nepal. It has outstanding snowcapped mountains, the mysterious caves, and amazing architectures. The well-preserved culture and tradition beautify this place. Although, an underrated destination, trek to Upper Mustang has proved itself a worthy exploration. Also, the trek is an opportunity to visit the last forbidden kingdom of Nepal which was close to outsiders until 1992. During the trek to the upper Mustang, you get to admire the breathtaking views of snow peaks such as Nilgiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and others.
The trek initiated from Kathmandu with a short drive to Pokhara. The trail leads lets you pass many villages, valleys through the rough yet exciting trails. You will get to experience high trails, rocky trails, riverbank pathways, roaming the orchards and exploring the alleyways. On the way, you will also witness Nepal’s second deepest gorge, Kali Gandaki. Not only that the Ramchung Cave that stands as an antique piece to boost the excitement. Not to mention, the trekking will be the combination of easy and hard adventurous trails. The snowcapped mountains and the pleasant countryside views will be admirable compensation for your effort.
Lo Manthang, the capital of Upper Mustang is the central attraction of the trek. It is the walled city with the royal palace in the middle of it. The all whitewashed mud-brick walls and muddyroofs of the houses are the signature piece of Lo Manthang. ChampaLhakang, with a huge clay statue of Buddha as well as elaborate mandalas painted on the walls, is a major temple which is like a must visit one. Likewise, one should not miss Damodar Kunda (pond) and gompas like Jhampa, Thupchen, and Chhoeda. Beyond the central attraction, the views of Tilicho, Yakawa Kang, DamodarDanda will entertain you on the route to Upper Mustang.
Best time to visit
June to September is the best time to visit Upper Mustang as you can get the glance of the vegetation along with joyous weather. Moreover, it is possible to visit here from the beginning of March to late December.

You will heartily be welcomed by our representative at the Tribhuwan International Airport. From thereon, you will be dropped at the hotel for relaxing. After that, you will be given a brief orientation of the Upper Mustang Trek by our representative.

Sightseeing at Kathmandu
After having our early morning breakfast, you will have a full day sightseeing plan at Kathmandu. Also popular as ‘the city of Temples’, you can visit the world heritage sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the beauty of the city, its culture, and tradition on this day. Furthermore, you will be prepared for trekking overnight. Overnight at the hotel.

Drive to Pokhara
Today we head towards the beautiful Lake city Pokhara on a tourist bus. After having our breakfast, we head towards our next destination. Pokhara is a beautiful city known for its natural beauty. The city is a perfect blend of natural and cultural beauty. Some major attractions of the place are The Shanty Stupa (World Peace Pagoda), Davis Fall, Begnas Lake, Phewa Lake, Rupa Tal, Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave is also known as ‘Chamero Gufa’. Also, you can enjoy at Fewa Lake. Overnight at the hotel.

Domestic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, Trek to Kagbeni
After having an energetic breakfast, we will take a flight to Jomsom from Pokhara. A short flight will land on Jomsom, the initial point of the trekking. From there the real trek begins towards Kagbeni. We initiate our trek through an open trail alongside a beautiful valley. Located at the banks of two rivers, to reach Jomsom, we pass through the Eakllibatti village. The village is beautiful with flat roof houses and also will let you explore the ruins of an old fortress.

Trek from Kagbeni to Chele
Before we begin our trek, we take our trekking permits. Then, we move ahead alongside the Kali Gandaki river. Walking on a sandy road, with every step you can feel the strong wind blow. We reach the Tangbe village heading through the narrow alleys. Enjoy the glances of white-washed houses, buckwheat fields, and apple orchards. Further on our way, we cross a village and a river. Then before reaching Chele, we walk on a ridge to get there.

Trek from Chele to Syangboche
Today we begin our trek from Chele to Syangboche. After having our early morning breakfast we get ready for the trek to Syangboche. The trail would be a little difficult compared to the other trails in this trek. Today we cross two passes, Taklam La pass, and Dajori La pass. Not to mention, the spectacular views of Tilicho, Yakawa Kang, Damodar Danda, and also pass through Ramchung cave. Descending through an abrupt trail we reach Syangboche.

Trek from Syangboche to Ghaymi
Ascending through the Yamda La pass, we head towards our destination. We pass through a few teahouses, chortens and beautiful villages. Hiking through forests and barley fields we reach Nyi pass. Furthermore, we descend towards the Ghaymi village which is the biggest one in the Lo region. Overnight at Ghaymi village.

Trek from Ghaymi to Tsarang
Today our trekking trail begins by descending through a rough and often slippery trail. Then, crossing the suspension bridge over the Ghami Khola and begin ascending ahead the trail. We move the beautiful pathways with mani walls. Then, we cross Tsarang la pass and finally reach Tsarang.

Trek from Tsarang to Lo Manthang
We head towards the capital of Mustang, the Lo Manthang. It is the walled
a city with the royal palace in the middle of it. Descending to a canyon, we move ahead and cross a river before beginning our uphill trek to Lo La pass which at 3950m. From the top of the pass, we can admire the beautiful Lo Manthang village. Furthermore, we descend to Lo Manthang which is a beautiful walled village. From here the views of the Himalayas including Nilgiri, Tilicho and Annapurna I, Bhrikuti Peak, as well as Damodar Kunda (pond), is quite amazing.

Acclimatization at Lo Manthang
Today we spend our entire day at Lo Manthang. You will get to explore the culture and tradition of Lo Manthang. Trek from Lo Manthang to Drakmar
Today we are on a different trekking route. Moving ahead from Lo Manthang, we head towards Drakmar. We pass through the Gyakar village which has a century-old Gompa. You will be amazed to see the beautiful rock paintings there. Moreover, it is believed that whoever makes a wish at the Gompa, it gets fulfilled. Continuing our trek, we reach Drakmar.

Trek from Drakmar to Ghiling
After having our early morning breakfast, we start our trek to avoid the strong winds and descend for the most part of the treks. Before reaching Ghiling, we pass through a dry plateau and fields. Ghiling is mostly a dry place, but the views we get of Mt. Nilgiri and Mt. Dhaulagiri is truly amazing.

Trek from Ghiling to Chuksang
After having our breakfast, we hike on the same trail as before going to Lo Manthang. Not to mention, on the way to Chuksang we will get to enjoy some spectacular views of Himalayas and villages.

Trek from Chuksang to Jomsom
Today is the last day of the trek but it surely is the long one. After trekking for a while, we come to an end of Mustang trails and continue the trek on the trails of Annapurna circuit. We relax and have our lunch at Kagbeni. After that, we finally head towards Jomsom.

Flight from Jomsom to Kathmandu via Pokhara
After having our breakfast, we take a flight to Kathmandu via Pokhara. The flight in itself would create some unforgettable experiences for you. The jaw-dropping views of Annapurna ranges and Mt Dhaulagiri makes it even worthy.

Full day at Kathmandu
Today we spend our entire day exploring the capital city Kathmandu.
