The royal trek is one of the popular short treks in Annapurna region. The trail goes along a shrub like path along the foothills of Annapurna, north of the Pokhara. It is an easy uphill walking that lets us encounter with low altitudes, village life of the Annapurna region. Through the trek, the stunning views of snow-clad mountains like Annapurna Ranges, consisting of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna South, including mountains, Fishtail, Langtang, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Lamjung. Dwelling through the pathways we stroll through terraced fields, lakes, and the jungles.

Although The Royal trek is a short trek it was outsized by the famous personalities like The Prince Charles and Mick Zaggar, the vocalist of The Rolling Stones. The trek is so-named because Prince Charles and his 90 person entourage had explored this route in the early eighties. This short trek initiates from the beautiful city of lakes, Pokhara further passing through various Gurung communities. Dwelling through the villages, the trek lets you explore the unique culture and hospitality of the locals.

During the trek, eloquent views of the magnificent Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre [fishtail] and the Langtang Mountains makes it even more appealing. The pathway through this trek is placid as the trail is less-crowded which leads towards a great trekking experience in a calm environment. Furthermore, the Royal Trek is a perfect trek for the beginners who seek adventure in a short period of time in a placid environment.

This beautiful journey finally ends at Begnas lake situated about 30 km west of Pokhara City from here our bus awaits for the journey back to our Pokhara hotel. The Royal trek presents a true picture of uniqueness and lets us explore the traditional lifestyles of the locals residing here with their decade old cultures. It is a must trek for the beginners to explore the most out of the Annapurna region on a short span of time.

Best time to visit
The best time to visit afre during Spring and Autumn when the weather is just perfect for the trek. During the time weather is just mild with less rainfall. Clear skies and the enchanting views of Rhododendron makes the trek an enjoyable one.

The Royal Trek Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
Day 2: Full day sightseeing at Kathmandu
Day 3: Drive or fly to Pokhara
Day 4: Drive to Kalikasthan and trekking starts
Day 5: Trek from Kalikasthan to Shaklung
Day 6: Trek from Shaklung to Chisopani
Day 7: Trek from Chisopani to Begnas Taal and Drive back to Pokhara
Day 8: Drive or fly to Kathmandu
Day 9: Onward Departure

 

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
You will heartily be welcomed by our representative at the Tribhuvan International Airport. From thereon, you will be dropped at the hotel for relaxing. After that, you will be given a brief orientation of the Annapurna Base Camp trek by our representative.

Day 2


 Full day sightseeing at Kathmandu
After having our early morning breakfast, you will have a full day sightseeing plan at Kathmandu. Also popular as ‘the city of Temples’, you can visit the world heritage sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the beauty of the city, its culture, and tradition on this day. Furthermore, you will be prepared for trekking overnight. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3


Drive or fly to Pokhara
We either drive or fly to Pokhara, the city of Lakes. On the way, we enjoy the enchanting view of Trishuli river, temples such as Tal Barahi temple, Bindyabasini temple, and the beautiful sceneries. The snow peaks are the major attractions here. The city is also famous for its temples and stupa. The World Peace Pagoda is a pagoda-style Buddhist monument that sits atop a hill overlooking the Annapurna Mountain range which reflects off Phewa Lake below.

Day 4


Drive to Kalikasthan and trekking starts
Today we drive towards our initial point of trekking that is Kalikasthan. The drive takes approximately about 5 hours. The drive exposes the beautiful landscapes, villages and picturesque scenery. Dwelling through kalikasthan we further walk through the village path about passing through several village houses.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Camp.


Day 5


Trek from Kalikasthan to Shaklung
After having our early morning breakfast, we start our trek towards Shaklung. The trek would take about 6 hours. We dwell through the villages along the ridge of the mountain which offers spectacular views of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal. Moreover, we can explore many villages, its locals and the culture. Also, the walk through the enchanting rhododendron forests makes the journey even more alluring.

Day 6


Trek from Shaklung to Chisopani
Today, we head towards Chisopani from Shaklung. After having our breakfast, we embark on our journey. It would take about 6 hours to reach there. The trail takes you through the Gurung village gives us an opportunity to observe the local lifestyle. Further, we move through the enchanting rhododendron and Sal trees. Half way through the walk there is a 400m descent, then a 600m ascent for us to arrive at Chisapani. Not to mention, this is the best view point to see the Himalayan Panorama. The amazing views of Dhaulagiri to the west of Annapurna will leave you awestruck.

Day 7


Trek from Chisopani to Begnas Taal and Drive back to Pokhara
Our trekking journey has almost come to an end. After having our breakfast, we start our trekking from Chisopani to Begnas taal. Today we head towards the marvelous Begnas Taal. We explore several settlements en route, cross a couple of streams, explore the greenery of the trail and pass through cultivation areas before reaching the Begnas Lake. Further, we drive towards the beautiful lake city, Pokhara. The stunning views of the mountains and the lakes are really amusing. Overnight at Pokhara.

Day 8


Drive or fly to Kathmandu
Our beautiful journey has come to an end as we head back towards Kathmandu. We either drive or fly back towards Kathmandu. We spend our rest day at Kathmandu exploring the various world heritage sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel.


Day 9


Onward Departure
After having your breakfast, you can have a relaxing time shopping in the city. At the evening our representatives will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Not to mention, you will be taking tons of memories of the trip.

    • 2 pairs of thin and 2 pair of thick woolen socks.
    • Down jacket, Woolen shirts and thick sweaters for winter December, January & February.
    • Duffle bag or kit bag to carry to gear while trekking.
    • Daypack: toilet items, camera, film towel, soap, a boot etc. 
    • Water bottle, sunglasses
    • 2-4 large plastic bags to separate clean clothes from dirty ones.
