BOOK THIS TRIP NOWJomsom Muktinath Trek is one of the most favorite treks among the trekkers from almost all over the world. It captivates the travelers from the west and pilgrims from the east as it has long been a famous pilgrimage spot for both Hindus and Buddhists. Jomsom is a lovely town of Nepal situated at an elevation of around 2700m in Mustang, Nepal. It is the capital of Mustang and lies on the Annapurna Circuit. The Kali Gandaki River courses through the Jomsom City where you can locate a Black stone which is prevalent as Shaligram. In Hindu culture, the stone is renowned as a form of Lord Vishnu. It gives you the terrific perspectives of the pinnacles Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri.
This trek holds the essence of both the Hindu and Buddhist culture. To Hindus, it is sacred and known as the place of salvation, for all those who take a wash in the waters where they are guaranteed salvation after death. The Hindu god Brahma is thought to have lit the eternal flame that still burns at Muktinath today. To the Buddhists, it is seen as a place of true significance for it was here they believe the great sage Guru Rinpoche took meditation. Muktinath trek initiates in Beni and follows the Kali Gandaki river gorge, the deepest in the world. The journey up takes us through some very old and traditional Thakali settlements and into the lower regions of Mustang.
Kagbeni is a particularly rewarding place to stay at night as is Marpha famous for its apples and apple brandy. On the way back we celebrate the end of the trek with a bath in the hot springs of Tatopani. Undoubtedly, Muktinath is one of the gateways to one of the famous religious places of the Hindus. In the eyes of the Hindus, and from the perspective of the Hindus, Muktinath is worth exploring.
All in all the Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a perfect combination of cultural and geographical diversity. Moreover, this trek offers surreal views of landscapes along with quaint villages, cascading waterfalls, lush forests. You wouldn’t want to miss this fascinating trek.
Best time to visit
The busiest month for tourism in Jomsom, Nepal in April, followed by December and May. Prices for hotels and flights will be most expensive during these months, though you can save if you purchase well in advance. Tourists are unlikely to visit Jomsom in January. Those willing to visit at these times will likely find it the least expensive month.

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hote You will heartily be welcomed by our representative at the Tribhuwan International Airport. From thereon, you will be dropped at the hotel for relaxing. After that, you will be given a brief orientation of the Upper Mustang Trek by our representative.

Drive or fly to Pokhara
Today we head towards the beautiful lake city, Pokhara. We either drive or take a flight to Pokhara. The major attractions of the city are the pristine lakes, thus also known as ‘City of Lakes’. It is one of the favorite tourist destinations because of the spectacular views of Himalayas. Pokhara is rich in terms of caves such as Mahendra Cave, Chamero Gufa (Bat cave), Gupteshwor Cave are the most prominent ones. Davis fall is another major attraction here.

Drive to trekking point and Trek to Tikedhunga
After having our breakfast, we drive towards our trekking point. After reaching to our trekking point, we initiate our trek towards Tikedhunga. We move through sub tropical valley forests. Sometimes we also walk through the engraved trekking trails on the side of the cliff. Overnight at Tikedhunga.

Trek from Tikedhunga to Ghorepani
After having early morning breakfast, we head towards Ghorepani village. The trail crosses the Tikedhunga river through a suspension bridge. The unwavering stone staircase continues to Magar village of Ulleri. Wildering through the rhododendron and oak forest passing through the cascading river, the journey becomes even more gratifying.

Trek from Ghorepani to Tatopani
On our way, we are allured by the stunning views of Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains. The trek initiates with a descent to Sikha Village and continues descending to Ghar Khola Village. After traversing a suspension bridge, our trail climbs up to Tatopani. While here we can enjoy hot spring water and relax.

Trek from Tatopani to Ghasa
We begin our trek after having our early morning breakfast. The trek would take about 5-6 hours. The trail gradually ascends on a trail with Kali Gandaki River on our right. Traversing through a suspension bridge over the river, the trail passes through the beautiful waterfall, Rupse Chhahara. We ascend further to Ghasa which is beautifully located in the lower part of the Kali Gandaki Valley and is warm and green. This village is also a popular place for bird-watching enthusiasts.

Trek from Ghasa to Marpha
Today, the trekking trail ascends on a steep trail through a forest to the Lete Khola (stream). After walking further, we reach the Lete village. Further, we continue our trek on a trail east of the river and reach Larjung Village. On our trek today we get stunned by the beautiful apple orchards and vegetable farms. Marpha is known in Nepal for its tasty apples. Overnight in Marpha.

Trek from Marpha to Kagbeni
After having our early morning breakfast, we head towards Kagbeni. The trek would take about approximately 4-5 hours. From Marpha we trek on a trail that clings to a valley. Further, we ascend gradually on a ridge and reach Jomsom Village. From here we trek to the north towards Kagbeni, up to the Kali Gandaki River which is the deepest gorge in the world. The trail gets windy after walking a while so it's important to walk carefully at a steady pace. Passing through Eklebhatti village, we continue our walk towards Kagbeni.

Trek from Kagbeni to Muktinath
Our journey starts with a special permit check and then onwards to the riverbank of Kaligandaki upstream. The trek takes about 5-6 hours. During the walk, we will have scenic picturesque places to stop by and admire. From Kagbeni the path ascends steeply to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar. The trail climbs through a desert landscape until Jarkot Village. A further ascend leads us to Muktinath.

Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom
Muktinath is one of important pilgrimage area of both Hindu and Buddhist people. We visit the main temple before leaving towards Jomsom. After that, we head towards Jomsom the capital of Mustang. Jomsom is a lovely town of Nepal situated at an elevation of around 2700m in Mustang. Likewise, it can be viewed as a place to use as a base for exploring the upper part of the Kali Gandaki area. It is cut in halves by the world’s deepest gorge Kali Gandaki Gorge.

Trek from Jomsom to Marpha
We will get the chance to see spectacular mountains view including Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri before descending to Lupra Rivers. Lupra is an isolated village that we traverse through during the trail. After 6/7 hours walk, we will reach Marpha village. Marpha is famous for the Apple garden place of Nepal. Another attraction of the Marpha village is ancient Thakali community village and typical architecture. Houses of the village have flat roofs and whitewashed walls.

Trek from Marpha to Tatopani
Today we head back to Tatopani leaving behind the beautiful village of Marpha. After having our breakfast, we leave towards our destination. Today the trail goes down to the Kali Gandaki gorge. On the way, the stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains make the journey even more appealing. Descending through the Rupchechhara waterfall, we reach Tatopani, the natural hot water spring.

Trek from Tatopani to Beni and Drive to Pokhara
Our trekking journey has almost come to an end. After having our breakfast we trek towards Beni. The trail offers stunning views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. After reaching Beni, we drive towards Pokhara. The major attractions of the city are the pristine lakes, thus also known as ‘City of Lakes’. It is one of the favorite tourist destinations because of the spectacular views of Himalayas.

Drive or fly to Kathmandu
Our adventurous journey to Jomsom Muktinath has finally come to an end. After having our early morning breakfast, we either drive or fly to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu our representatives will drop you to your hotel for relaxation. Moreover, for the remaining time of the day, you can explore the enchanting city of Kathmandu.
